Press Release Body: City Year Inc. continues to march towards its goal of encouraging young people across America to commit to community service, powered by the organization\'s new state-of-the art headquarters. The Bekenstein Family City Year Headquarters for Idealism serves as the civic heartbeat of City Year\'s network of 18 sites including one in Johannesburg, South Africa and more than 1,400 young people who provide more than two million hours of community service each year. At a building dedication this past fall, Caroline Kennedy and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino joined City Year to celebrate the organization\'s important mission, and to pay tribute to the work that City Year corps members are doing to help children and schools succeed across the United States and in South Africa (http://www.cityyear.org/about/pressroom/NatEnews.cfm?Date=04-08&v=8&i=1&Article=s3) Important leadership and donations for the project have come from Josh Bekenstein (http://www.cityyear.org/dynamic_ektid6395.aspx), managing director of Bain Capital (http://www.portfolio.com/resources/executive-profiles/Josh--Bekenstein--683957) (http://www.portfolio.com/resources/executive-profiles/Josh--Bekenstein--683957), Jeannie and Jonathan Lavine (http://www.cityyear.org/dynamic_ektid6397.aspx), and Anne Lovett and Steve Woodsum.
Michael Brown, CEO and Co-Founder of City Year offered the following observation about the buildings potential impact: As the great mathematician Archimedes once said, Give me a lever long enough and a place to stand, and I will move the earth. I am so grateful to our generous donors who have given City Year corps members, staff, board and partners a place to stand.
